The Baby Oil Generation Deserves
The Baby Oil Generation Deserves Better
If you were a teenager in the 80s or 90s, there’s a decent chance you slathered yourself in baby oil and headed straight for the sun.
No SPF. No questions. No fear. Just blind confidence and a cassette tape.
Some of us were baking on pool decks. Some of us were stretched across boat seats. Some of us were in the backseat of a Camaro somewhere making questionable choices with excellent confidence.
The point is, we weren’t exactly handed a skincare education.
We toned our faces with the blue stuff that made our eyeballs water. We exfoliated with that apricot scrub everybody owned, the one that felt like it was removing both dead skin and bad decisions. We considered body care complete if there was a half-empty bottle of lotion rolling around under the bathroom sink.
And somehow, we survived. Barely.
Fast forward a few decades, and now the same women who could survive Aqua Net fumes, tanning oil, and an entire Friday night fueled by Diet Coke are standing in front of the mirror wondering why their skin suddenly feels different.
Not bad. Different.
Maybe it feels a little drier than it used to. Maybe it takes more effort to feel comfortable. Maybe that lotion you’ve been buying for twenty years suddenly isn’t cutting it anymore.
Nobody warns you about that part.
They’ll happily sell you a dozen products to “fix” things, but very few people talk about the fact that skin changes. What worked at 25 doesn’t always work at 45, 55, or beyond.
And honestly, most body care hasn’t evolved much either.
You’ve got greasy body oils that leave you feeling like a buttered dinner roll, lotions that disappear faster than your patience, ingredient lists longer than a CVS receipt, and routines that somehow expect you to have twenty extra minutes and the enthusiasm of a beauty influencer.
No thanks. Real life is busy enough.
I created our Body Oil because I wanted something I’d actually use every day. Not something that sat on a shelf looking pretty. Not something that turned my pajamas into an oil slick. Not something that made me stand around naked in my bathroom waiting for my life to continue.
I wanted soft skin. Comfortable skin. The kind that feels good when your jeans brush against it and doesn’t have you reaching for more lotion before lunch.
That’s it.
Our Body Oil starts with a botanical infusion built specifically for changing skin.
Fireweed brings antioxidant support for skin dealing with the daily assault of weather, sun, dry air, hot showers, shaving, and life in general. Calendula is there because comfortable skin matters. It’s one of my favorite botanicals for skin that feels tight, thirsty, or just plain cranky.
And then there’s red clover.
Red clover is the sleeper.
Most women have heard about retinol. They’ve heard about acids. They’ve heard about every new miracle ingredient that shows up on social media. Almost nobody talks about red clover.
In skincare, red clover is known for its connection to mature-skin support, especially formulas focused on softness, elasticity, and skin that doesn’t feel as firm or cushioned as it once did.
That got my attention because that’s exactly the conversation we’re having here.
Not acne. Not twenty-year-old skin. Changing skin. The skin that suddenly needs more moisture, more softness, and more support than it did ten or twenty years ago.
I infuse those botanicals into sunflower oil, then round out the formula with lightweight oils, including squalane, so it absorbs beautifully and leaves skin comfortable instead of coated.
Together, those ingredients give this oil more than slip and shine. They give it a reason to exist.
Because body care should make your skin feel better, not give you another chore.
And honestly, that’s what I’ve been chasing all along: skin that feels comfortable, soft, supported, and like itself again.
At this stage of life, most of us aren’t trying to chase every trend. We’re trying to keep what actually works.
