It Can't Work from the Back of the Drawer

Thursday at the Counter  ·  May 2026

A friend told me she still had one of my sugar scrubs from a year ago, and I told her, "Girl, it can't work from the back of the drawer."

I was laughing, but I meant it. We all do it. We buy something new, use it for a few days, don't wake up with brand-new skin, then let it disappear into the drawer.

I've done it too — especially once my skin started changing. Drier, tighter, duller, more dramatic about everything. One day your routine is fine, and the next day your face has notes.

The difference was when I created First Light. My skin felt better right away. Softer, more comfortable, a little smoother-looking. So I used it again the next morning because I actually liked how my skin felt.

It's easier to keep using something when your skin gives you a reason to come back to it.

First Light also fit into my actual life: after hydration, before SPF or makeup, right alongside the treatments I already used.

So here's the Thursday reminder: use the good stuff. Keep it where you can see it. Give your skin a real chance.

Because the product in the drawer isn't failing you. It's just waiting for you to bring it back to the counter.
